Orthopedic rehabilitation

When you are injured in an accident, you may experience difficulty functioning in daily life. Orthopedic rehabilitation is all about proper functioning of the musculoskeletal system. Rehabilitation can take place before surgery (pre-operative) but can be particularly important after surgery (post-operative).

The rehabilitation process is always in consultation with an orthopedic surgeon so that we can offer you the best quality. In addition, rehabilitation can be done without surgery (conservative). Here the assessment is then made that with proper training no surgery will be necessary.

Rehabilitation after a CVA

Rehabilitation after a CVA

Cerebro Vasculair Accident (CVA) refers to “accident in the blood vessels of the brain” and is also known as a stroke. Stroke is the collective term for a TIA, cerebral infarction and cerebral hemorrhage. In a TIA, a blood vessel is briefly closed by a clot. In cerebral infarction, a clot closes a blood vessel in the brain but does not dissolve on its own, and in cerebral hemorrhage, the blood vessel in the brain tears open. In all three conditions, the symptoms are similar. Stroke may result:

  • Problems walking;

  • Difficulty maintaining balance;

  • An arm that is not functioning properly;

  • Speech problems;

  • Psychosocial problems;

After a CVA, rehabilitation usually follows. Under our expert guidance, recovery is worked on so that the patient can return to doing as much as possible for themselves. Rehabilitation takes an average of six months. The greatest progress occurs in the first few weeks after the stroke but improvement can still occur after the first few months to years. If you are self-sufficient enough, the physical therapists will be happy to help you with continued recovery. The therapists can work with you to practice everyday activities.
